Redesigning the Process for Establishing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans
This 2017 report, from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, was the second of two requested by Congress in P.L. 114-113 regarding the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs). It recommended changes to the DGA process to reduce and manage sources of bias and conflicts of interest, improve timely opportunities for engagement by all interested parties, enhance transparency, and strengthen the science base of the process. The first report, which was also released in 2017, can be found here.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on September 14, 2017 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
