Description
An ad hoc committee will plan and conduct a one-day public workshop that will feature invited presentations and discussion of the role and challenges for health literacy in health care reform. The workshop may include the topics of health insurance literacy including coverage and cost, the role of health literacy in accessing health care and remaining in treatment including shared decision-making, delivery and financing system reforms that affect organizational health literacy, and quality and equity considerations. The committee will define the specific topics to be addressed, develop the agenda, select and invite speakers and other participants, and moderate the discussions. A summary of the presentations and discussion at the workshop and a workshop proceedings in brief will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
