The New Voices program of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize a New Voices Catalyst Lecture Series to convene members of the New Voices in Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine program across cohorts alongside members of the National Academies in host regions. The series, supported by the Shu and KC Chien Endowed Fund, will consist of one to two events per year hosted on a rotating basis at New Voices members’ home institutions, with at least one event per year taking place on the western side of the country. Each event will be structured as a half-day program consisting of a closed-door lunch, a public lecture, and a reception. The lecture will feature paired presentations by an early- or mid-career New Voices member and a senior member, ideally a National Academies member, selected through a nomination process led by New Voices members and the New Voices Advisory Committee. Speaker pairings will highlight a shared scientific topic from the perspectives of different career stages and disciplinary backgrounds. Over time, the series will seek to establish a consistent annual cadence to facilitate participation and planning among New Voices members and alumni and National Academies members, as applicable. No written products will be produced.
