PART V
Strategies After the Decision Is Made

An illustration of four people pointing to a presentation with data.

Congratulations on reaching a great decision! Now there is work to do to make sure that the decision lands well and has the impact you imagined. You will need people to support your decision, and how you communicate it can have a big impact on receptivity and buy-in. Then the decision needs to be implemented, which may require the help of staff or external stakeholders to do the work. If there is any element of objection or disinterest by these parties, leaders may need to actively follow up on implementation to make sure the right actions are happening. Finally, it may become clear that your great decision was not so great after all, or that circumstances changed to make another alternative more appealing than the one you chose. The ability to adapt decisions as feedback and new information arise is the ultimate mark of great decision-making.
